Dantes General Anthropology Practice Exam 2026 – Complete Study Guide

The correct choice regarding the anthropologist who emphasized the role of anthropology as a "Policy Science" is actually not B. E.B. Tylor, but rather none of the options provided align perfectly. In the context of anthropology as a policy science, one might think of figures like Margaret Mead or later anthropologists who engaged in practical applications of their research in public policy and cultural understanding.

E.B. Tylor is known primarily for his work in the development of cultural anthropology and his contributions to the concept of culture, particularly in proposing a definition of culture that has influenced anthropological thought. His work was foundational in establishing anthropology as a discipline but did not specifically advocate for anthropology as a "Policy Science."

In contrast, contemporary anthropologists often emphasize applying anthropological knowledge to inform policy-making, recognizing the importance of cultural context in social planning and development. This shift reflects the evolving role of anthropology in addressing real-world issues rather than the historical figures listed.

So, although the options presented might not lead to the intended answer in relation to the policy aspect of anthropology, it highlights the growing trend in the discipline to engage with social issues through a policy lens.
